DIY These Home Decorating Ideas for a Cozy Bedroom
If there's one place at home that I can't stop redecorating or upgrading, it's the bedroom. It's a room I can really call mine (okay…ours!). My sweet husband gave me permission to redecorate to my heart's content, but he had only one request–not to make it too girly. Request granted. Anyhow, we all have our own dream bedrooms but during winter, I believe we can all agree that we want a cozy and homey bedroom. I have beautiful home decorating ideas to share with you today, so it's time to get to work!
1. DIY Hammock
What? A hammock chair in the bedroom? YES! This hammock doubles as a reading chair and is best installed near the window. Depending on the material you will use, it can carry up to 200 lbs., which is great for adults (like me) who love relaxing on hammocks.
2. DIY Upholstered Headboard
To really achieve THE cozy bedroom, there's no excuse for not having an upholstered headboard. It's pretty pricey and I know some people aren't willing to buy one for the price. Well, you don't have to! This DIY Upholstered Headboard requires no sewing and the final product looks like it came right out of a home decor magazine!
3. Picture Frame Shadow Box

Do you have old or vintage picture frames at home? This is a great project you can do with them. What I really like about this Picture Frame Shadow Box is its uniqueness. I rarely see wall-mounted dividers that come in this design. So if you have one on your wall, it's surely going to attract attention.
4. DIY Hanging Shelves
If you're averse to drilling holes into your walls, then these DIY Hanging Shelves is the project you've been waiting for. It's a simple design that will save you space. It's also a good place to display your small plants, sculptures, and ornaments.
5. DIY Chunky Knit Throw
It can't get cozier than this. Snuggling up with a chunky knitted throw or blanket is what I call snow day heaven! Chunky throws like this are really pricey, which is why your knitting skills will save the day. Lucky you!
6. DIY Pom Pom Rug
Now that you have your chunky knit throw, match it with this pretty DIY Pom Pom Rug! Not only will your feet love it, your eyes will also thank you for this beautiful cozy decor. Did I mention that you only need scrap yarn to make this?
7. DIY Sweater Pouf Ottoman
Instead of storing old sweaters, repurpose them into something useful. This pouf ottoman is actually made of old sweaters and fillers. I've made two of these already because my kids love it!
8. DIY Flutter Curtains
You've upgraded your decor, headboard, walls, and rugs. Perhaps it's time that you change your curtains too? This DIY Flutter Curtains project is not for the faint at heart but come on, look at the finished product–it's gorgeous! I love how dreamy the room has become too!
9. DIY No Sew Window Bench

This DIY No Sew Window Bench project couldn't have come at a better time. I've always wanted to put benches in the kids' rooms because it can serve as both a sitting area and toy storage. I didn't want to spend so I just waited for a doable project to come my way and THIS IS IT!
10. DIY Bed Canopy
When I was in my 20s, I dreamt of having a bed canopy in my bedroom. Although my husband always approves of my decor choices, this one isn't one of them. But thankfully, I have a kid who is into princess stuff so I made this bed canopy for her…in pink! Need I say that she absolutely loves it?

11. DIY Light Up Headboard
Lace and Christmas lights make such a dreamy combo for any bedroom. We've already done this project a couple of years back but we hung this on the wall of my daughter's bedroom instead. I came across this project again recently and thought that the light up headboard is a great idea for the master room too!
12. DIY Sweater Throw Pillow
This is another cool way to repurpose your old sweaters. Cut up an old sweater, insert the pillow and close the edges with buttons.
13. DIY Faux Roman Shades

Using printed fabric for roman shades will instantly give the room a homey feel. While making your own roman shade is doable; there's no need to spend more time on it that you should. This DIY Faux Roman Shades tutorial will teach you the trick to upgrade your window treatment without breaking a sweat.
