DIY Propane Fire Pit Using a Flower Pot
Materials:
- Flowerpot
- Wood panel
- Firepit kit
- Propane tank
- Pizza pan
- Decorative fixings (e.g. fire glass, lava rocks)
Notes:
- Make sure to choose a flowerpot that's a little bit taller than your propane tank.
- For the wood panel, make sure that its diameter is bigger than that of the flower pot.
Step 1: Figure Out Your Desired Ignition

There are several types of ignitions when it comes to fire pits. These include match lit, push-button spark, and electronic ignitions. The match lit requires you to use a match or lighter.
On the other hand, use a push-button spark if you want a one-click light up. Finally, choose an electric ignition if you want a more premium and better control of the fire.
Note: Consider the material that the flowerpot is made of. Choose between terracotta and ceramic.
Step 2: Drill Holes
Drill holes in the middle of both the wood panel and the pizza pan. This hole is where your burner will sit. Take note that the size of the hole will depend on the burner.
At the same time, in order to prevent pressure build-up, drill some vent holes at the bottom of the flowerpot. This will help keep the heat from building up and eventually creating pressure.
Afterward, drill another hole at the side of the pot. This is where you will attach the key valve for the tank. The common size of the hole is about an inch.
Step 3: Attach the Wires
Follow the instructions given in your fire pit kit. You're going to assemble the burner and attach the gas lines.

Step 4: Assemble the Pieces
It's time to assemble your fire pit. With the propane tank inside the pot, set the wooden panel on top. Next, lay the pizza pan atop it.
Attaching the burner will help keep both the wooden panel and the pizza pan in place.
Step 5: Add Your Decorative Fixings

Using decorative accents of your choice, you can go ahead and cover up the burner. Don't use river rocks or any other regular stones because they will explode under the heat.
Lava rocks are perfect for a classic fire pit look while fire glass is perfect for an elegant and sophisticated look.
Step 6: Don't Forget to Routinely Check Your Propane Tank
Make sure to check your propane tank at least twice a month. Check the tank level and any possible gas leaks.
Step 7: Enjoy Your Easy DIY Propane Fire Pit

You're finally done with your DIY propane fire pit. Now all you have to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy your evenings without having to worry about the cold!
