Celebrate Ice Cream Cone Day With This Balloon Craft!

September 22 is National Ice Cream Cone Day, and we found the perfect way to celebrate. Using just a balloon and a few pieces of paper, you can make your own giant ice cream cone! Kids of all ages will love this balloon craft – it's simple and fun, and who doesn't love a giant ice cream cone? Check out the steps below to get started!

What you'll need for your balloon craft:

Construction paper (white, brown, green, blue & orange)
Ruler
Pencil
Scissors
Pink tissue paper
Glue stick
Double-sided tape
Elmer's glue
Pink balloon attached to long straw or stick

How to make your balloon craft:

Step 1: Using your white paper as a stencil, draw an arch onto your brown paper.

Step 2: Cut along this line on your brown paper to make the cone.

Step 3: Fold your pink tissue paper in half twice, then cut a 2-inch strip.

Step 4: Cut rounded edges into this strip of paper.

Step 5: Apply glue stick to the edge of your cone, then glue the strip of paper to the edge.

Repeat this process on the other side of your cone, just slightly higher.

Step 6: Flip your cone over and fold the edges down on one side.

Step 7: Apply a piece of double-sided tape to the back of your cone.

Step 8: Wrap edges of the cone toward each other, then press down firmly for a few seconds.

Step 9: Apply Elmer's glue to the inside edge of the cone.

Step 10: Pull your balloon through the cone, then hold for abut 30 seconds while the glue dries.

Step 11: Cut your green, blue and orange construction paper into confetti strips.

Step 12: Apply a dot of Elmer's glue to each strip of confetti.

Step 13: Roll your ice cream cone over the confetti strips.

Step 14: Enjoy your new balloon ice cream cone!
