7 Simple Steps to Creating Your Wooden Pallet Bar
What You'll Need:
Step 1: Choose Your Pallet
Be sure that the slices of your pallets are neat and the wood is of good quality. Don't worry if they are broken down, but keep in mind to be careful and look out for any exposed nails. If you don't have much time to break down old wood, you can opt to buy pallets in your local hardware store.
You can also recycle some chipboards for your DIY pallet bar, but if you'll place it outdoors, use plywood instead.
Step 2: Build the Frame
Once you have decided where to place your pallet bar, measure the area, and start building your frame. Simply create a rectangle and insert vertical pillars. Use a miter saw to achieve clean and precise cuts.
Step 3: Create the Top of Your Bar
Your chipboard or plywood will serve as the top of your pallet bar. Screw it down onto your pallets and cut it according to your desired pattern. If it's too wide for your bar, remove the excess parts.
Leave a bit of an overhang, at least three inches, where you can put your LED strip lights later on.
Step 4: Strengthen Your Frame
Depending on the weight you'll be putting on your bar, add pillars every 400 to 600 millimeters. Don't forget to screw your pallet slats onto your chipboard or plywood for extra support.

Step 5: Add Shelves
Cut pieces of wood that would fit into your wood pallet bar. Place them horizontally and screw them onto your pallet slats at the back of your bar.
Step 6: Paint Your Wood Pallet Bar
Before painting, sand your DIY bar to make sure that it's safe and smooth. Afterward, apply varnish to give it a darker stain and to make it waterproof.
Step 7: Decorate Your Pallet Bar
You can add LED strip lights to your DIY bar for extra effect. Tuck your strip lights and put screws to keep them in place. Be sure not to screw through them.
