Rit Dye Pillow? I know the term is not one you hear very often, but once again Taryn Whiteaker brings us another one of her creative designs. Check it out below!
Creative Dyed Pillow
Taryn was inspired by some Shibori pillows she saw online, and since she wanted to create a unique look she took matters into her own hands. She used Rit blue rit dye for the colors. The results are these absolutely stunning dyed pillows that you too can create in the comfort of your own home. Feel free to experiment with different colors and different sized pillows that work best with your decor.
As usual, I'll share some of the steps from her tutorial to get you started on the right track, then share a link for her full tutorial.
Materials needed
-
- Rubber Bands
- Scrap pieces wood
- Rit Dye ( Taryn used Navy blue, but you can experiment with any color you like)
- 22″ X 22″ piece of 100% cotton (1 per pillow)
- 1 Cup of Salt
- 1 Teaspon of Dish Soap
For the first design, fold square pillow fabric in quarters, then roll it up around a piece of wood. Then place a second piece of wood on the top and rubber band it together.
For the second look, Taryn folded the pillow square in half, placed a piece of 2.5″ wood at the bottom and then rolled it up! She then rubber banded it together.
