This is an inexpensive DIY project that anyone can do. Don't ever let anyone tell you that a can of paint cannot do anything good for your home.

Why does this increase your home's value? Not only does it make your home look beautiful, but it also makes your home look brand new. Yes, paint can go a long way hiding surface scratches and other superficial damages.

Small tip: go for bright and vibrant colors. I suggest going for shades of blue and green and yellow for exterior and mild shades of cream for the interior. 

DIY Home Improvement Tip #2: Enhance molding.

Molding can be done with or without the help of a professional designer.  You can do molding in the different parts of the house – be it in the dining room, living room, or your bedroom.

Why does this add value to your home? Molding adds emphasis to the architecture and style of your home. The columns, the corners, and all wooden masterpieces attached to your home can make your home look classy. Combined with the right paint job, these moldings can stand out and highlight the entire structure of the house.

Small tip: Moldings are good and all, but don't overdo them. Doorways and hallway entrances are good spots for moldings. Wall corners are not.

DIY Home Improvement Tip #3: Improve light fixtures.

You can improve your light fixtures by adding dimmer switches to them. You can easily buy them and are usually not that expensive.

Why does this add value to your home? Added technology can go a long way to adding value to your home. I've seen homes with clappers and dimmers sell a thousand dollars more compared to homes without them. I don't really know why, I'm not a real estate agent. There's just something about dimmers and clappers that make your home feel like a million dollars.

Small tip: dimmers and clappers go well in the most lighted areas of the house, like the living room and the kitchen. Dimmers are intended to create an ambiance within the room, so use them.

Again, you don't need to spend a lot of money on renovations to make your home look and feel brand new, even more so when you want to increase your home's value. Where I live, a newly painted house sells faster than a newly constructed one.
