1. Use ziplock bags to protect your cell phone during water rides
Now you can take selfies!!! But mostly you ensure your valuables don't get soaked.
2. Long Line? Not If You're A Single Rider
The most popular rides will often have a single rider line. This is to help YOU out, and to make sure no seat goes unfilled! It's a win-win for you and the park. If you don't mind riding alone then check for this special line!
3. Take a picture of where you parked!
One quick photo could save you HOURS of agony as you march on tired feet in search of a lost car.
Here's a double hack – I always text the parking location to another person I'm there with. That way it's in both of our phones.
4. Go on Rides During SHOWS!
A ride's line will never be shorter than during a parade or the big end-of-day firework spectacular! Find a map for the events schedule, or ask a park employee. Whenever I go to Disneyland my goal is to get the timing just right so I'm on an outdoor ride during the firework show – it's so magical!
5. Search for Deals Online to Find Discount Codes and Cheaper Prices
This life hack can be applied to theme parks, and just about any shopping experience. ALWAYS do a web search before you buy if you want to save some extra cash for souvenirs! Speaking of souvenirs – you could by those online too if you're really looking to save, that way you can wear your memorabilia to the park (and pay half the price!)
6. Upgrade Your Pass
Are you having so much fun that you see yourself going back again and again? Turn those one-day tickets into year-long passes. If you go to the service center most theme-parks will happily help you upgrade your admission. Think of it as an investment, and your admission was just the downpayment. 😉
7. Pack a Poncho
If you LOVE water rides, but don't prefer the lingering sogginess, then you should BYOP – bring your own poncho! Ponchos are so cheap, you can pick one up at your nearest drug store. Don't want to carry around a wet poncho all day? Throw it out – or hand it to the next person in line!
8. Bring a Portable Charger
Let's be real – this is the 21st Century – we need our phones. We use them to communicate, we use them to take photos, some of us even use the theme park's app to check on ride wait-times. You'll want your phone on you at all times throughout the day; so bring that juiced-up charger and never worry about your phone dying on you again.
9. Child Tattoo Hack
Write your phone number on your child's wrist and apply skin shield to keep it from washing office. This will ensure the tiny wandering feet lost in a crowd can be found and returned to the proper adult caregiver. No child left behind.
10. Go Early and Start At The Back
You know that saying “early bird gets the worm”? Boy is this true for theme parks! If you can get in as the park opens and head straight to the back, you'll beat all the big crowds and be first in line! A ride that is typically a 2-hour wait could easily be only 15 minutes. Just think of all the other rides you'll be able to hit with so much saved time!
11. Child Swap For Rides With Height Limits
Some theme park rides have height limits; that means guests under a certain height will not be allowed to enter the ride. However, parks have this in mind and want all their guests (or at least as many that can) to enjoy the ride experience. That's why they provide a rider swap program – learn more here. Now you can take turns riding the ride while someone stays with the little one for safety.
12. Set A Designated Meeting Point
Designate a meetup spot for your group in case you split up – whether on accident or on purpose. This will be especially helpful if you don't have a phone – or worse – the battery died.
