Want a natural way to freshen your breath without the unnatural chemicals used in chewing gum or breath mints? We’ve got the simplest answer for you – a DIY herbal breath spray!
After eating, do you instinctively reach for a chewing gum or breath mints?
It can be refreshing – especially after eating a meal with lots of garlic and/or onions. I'm a sucker for both… Most chewing gums and breath mints are full of artificial colors, artificial sweeteners, preservatives and sugar. So let's try something natural, shall we? No surprise here, but the DIY method will save you money in the long run.
How to Make DIY Herbal Breath Spray
What you'll need:
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon whole cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 4 drops peppermint essential oil
Directions:
Step 1
Bring the water to a boil and add cloves, cinnamon and peppermint. Remove from heat. Let the spices infuse for about 10 minutes.
Step 2
Strain the mixture twice with a fine mesh strainer.
Step 3
Pour into a bottle with lid and keep refrigerated.
Step 4
Start freshening your breath the all-natural DIY way!
You can make a spray version for on-the-go or keep it on the night stand for a good morning breath spritz! Pour the liquid into a small spray bottle and add a squeeze of honey. If you're one of the few people who doesn't like cinnamon (I'm part of that minority), you can make an all-peppermint version with just water, a few drops of peppermint essential oil and honey.
To avoid bad breath in the first place, cover the basics: brush often (especially your tongue!) and drink lots of water.
Kiss that awkward smelling breath away!
