Awesome Leather Craft: Make Your Own Cable Organizer
If you're looking to up your DIY game, look no further– this leather craft is perfect for DIYers looking for a challenge. (We love the rustic look of this leather cable organizer, but feel free to use faux leather if you'd prefer!) This leather craft is the perfect way to keep your cords and cables organized while bringing in a touch of your own personal style. What you'll need for this leather craft:
- Leather (or faux leather if you'd prefer)
- Cutting mat
- Metal ruler
- Rotary cutter
- Metal washer
- Leather hole punch tool
- Leather edge slicker
- Dremel leather burnisher
- Waxed thread and needle
- Eco Flo Gum Tragacanth and wool dauber
- Leather string
- Lighter
How to make this leather craft:
Step 1: Cut your leather into a 8”x 12” piece.
Step 2: Round the corners using a washer and rotary cutter.
Step 3: Mark 9 small dots down the length of the leather, each 1 inch apart.
Step 4: Punch a hole through the first dot with your hole punch tool.
Step 5: Fold the leather over, then poke a second hole.
Step 6: Repeat this process down the length of the leather.
Step 7: Rub the slicker up against the edge of the leather.
Step 8: Dip the wool dauber into the gum tragacanth.
Step 9: Rub the wool dauber against the outside edge of the leather.
Step 10: Run the Dremel leather burnisher along the edge of the leather.
Step 11: Knot one end of the leather string, then burn the end of the knot.
Step 12: Weave the string through each of the holes.
Step 13: Insert your cables and secure with the string.
Step 14: Roll the cable organizer closed and tie it up!
