Photos are precious to me. It captures the moment and memories that I share with my friends and family. I always keep a photo album in our home but there are just some photos that I would want everyone to see. The problem is, I can't seem to find the right photo frame to hold my favorite photo. Can you guess what I did? … You're right! I searched my craft room for the perfect supply I can use to make a DIY photo frame. And here's the super easy tutorial!

Supplies you'll need for this DIY yarn photo frame:

  • yarn (you can use any color or size you want)
  • photo frame
  • scissors
  • fabric glue or hot glue gun
  • embellishment
  • embroidery needle

Step 1

Take your photo frame apart. We'll be decorating the face of the photo frame with yarn. If the photo frame you're using has glass, you'd have to remove that too. Now take the end of your yarn and tie it to one end of the frame.

Step 2

Once you have the end secured in a tight knot. Wrap the yarn tightly around the photo frame. Align them as best as you can, it will look better if they don't crisscross each other.

Step 3

Once you've covered the entire frame with yarn, flip it and cut the end with your scissors. Take a strand from the wrapped yarn and tie a knot to secure it.

Step 4

You'll now have a loose strand of yarn. So what are you supposed to do about it? Take an embroidery needle and hide it by sewing it in the wrapped yarn. Once it's already hidden, you can now cut the rest of it if there's still some sticking out.

Step 5

To make sure that no part of the old frame will show on the edges, take your glue gun and put a dot of glue at the back of each corner.

Step 6

You're almost done. You now have a DIY yarn photo frame. To add a little more accent, you can glue any kind of embellishment in one corner of the frame. Let it dry.

And voila!

The last thing you have to do is grab your photo and put it in your DIY photo frame!

Wasn't that an easy yarn craft that only took minutes to complete? This will be a great gift idea if you don't have a lot of time to go shopping or make something else. The best thing about this DIY project is you can easily customize it any way you like. You can add any kind of design and use any color of yarn to suit the room or person you're giving it to. So grab an old photo frame, some yarn and start wrapping!
