Waterproof Your Canvas Shoes in 3 Simple Steps

Keep your feet warm and dry this winter! In just three steps (really!) you can waterproof any pair of canvas shoes using only a candle and hairdryer. Simply rub a candle over your shoes, coat the entire surface with candle wax, then heat with a hairdryer. When the wax has melted, your shoes will be waterproof and ready for whatever weather comes your way!

Step 1: Grab a pair of canvas shoes and a candle.

Tip: We found that white unscented taper candles worked best for us. Click HERE to get your own!

Waterproof Your Canvas Shoes Step One

Step 2: Rub the candle against the entire canvas surface of your shoe. It’s important to be accurate and cover the canvas thoroughly! By the time you’re finished, the canvas should be completely white from the candle wax.

Waterproof Your Canvas Shoes Step Two

Step 3: Take a hairdryer and melt the wax into your shoe’s surface. Ta-da! Your shoe is totally waterproof. Repeat the process on your other shoe, and you’ll be ready for any rain that comes your way!
