A lot of people have viewed mason jars as just a glass container for canning purposes at home. To be honest, there was a time when I too am guilty of believing mason jars are limited for this function.
Now I think that's just unfair because these things have a multitude of use in the crafting world. Everything about a mason jar is appealing from its shape to its different colors, and it can be used in almost all parts of our beloved home.
This time, we'll use mason jars in a unique and elegant project that takes it out of the glass container category into one of the most beautiful chandelier ideas in crafting. What do you think about a DIY chandelier made of mason jars?
What You Need:
- Ikea lights
- Mason Jars
- Wire
- Wire Connector
- Electrical tape
- Drill
- Pliers
- Pen or Marker
- Glue Gun
- Glue Stick
- Wire Strippers
- Cutter
Making Your DIY Mason Jar Chandelier:
Step 1: Make the Light Socket Holder
Mark and drill the mason jar lid where you will insert the light socket.
Pry out the middle and bend the sharp edges. Do this the rest of the mason jar lid.
Step 2: Paint Visible Parts

Paint all visible parts of the mason jar lid.

Step 3: Cut Wood to Desired Length
|
Cut wood to your desired length where you will hide wires and to support the light.

Sand and stain afterward.
Step 4: Drill Holes
|
Drill holes that are the same size as the wire for the lights.
|
Assemble the mason jar with its wire and set the light to your desired length.
Step 5: Glue and Organize Wire
|
Glue the wires to keep them in place.
|
Use a wire connector to connect the wires in every light.
Plug in to check if all wirings are working. (NOTE: you can use lamp wiring instead of Ikea wire)
Step 6: Finalize and Mount
|
Measure the distance from the light to where you will be putting the chandelier.
Mark the wood and drill the holes. Use a drill bit to connect the wooden panel on the ceiling.
