Bite into your pizza just straight from the backyard pizzeria

Now your backyard isn't just for the kids running around, or you cozily resting the afternoon away. My wife and I are always looking forward to adding a functional project to our backyard and this one takes the cake. An outdoor pizza oven that turns any backyard into a pizzeria is simply too much to pass on to.

Supplies in making your own DIY outdoor pizza oven:

  • Cinder blocks
  • Bricks
  • Sand (6 buckets)
  • Clay (3 buckets)
  • Wood chips
  • Newspaper

Steps:

1. Create a solid base.

Create a solid base for your DIY pizza oven using cinder blocks. Pile them up and arrange bricks on top of it.

Place the bricks on the cinder blocks, as they will serve as the oven floor.

2. Mix sand and clay.

Mix the 6 buckets of wet sand and 3 buckets of clay, add water as needed. Have fun mixing it using your feet.

3. Build your oven.

Create a dome made of the clay sand.

Cover it with wet newspaper.

Form your clay sand mix into soft bricks. Stack them around the dome.

4. Create a brick arch.

This will help draw the smoke out of the oven. make sure it's wide enough to pull out a pizza.

5. Remove the inner clay sand.

Remove the clay sand inside the dome, the pile that was covered with newspaper earlier. This will empty out the oven.

6. Cover it with wood chips – wet clay mixture.

Mix in wood chips and wet clay and put them at the top of the oven. This will protect them from the weather.

7. Create a small fire inside.

Dry the oven from the inside by building fire and leave it overnight.
