I’m a hoarder of spring cleaning tips. When it comes to my bedroom, there really is nothing quite like doing a deep clean: making sure every nook and cranny is vacuumed, every pillow fluffed, and every pair of socks tucked neatly in a drawer.
Over the years, I’ve picked up a handful of tricks on easy spring cleaning tips. Let me share some of them with you today!
1. Follow the Two-Year Rule for Clothes
I was first introduced to the two-year rule when packing for my dorm at university. Ever since then, I’ve never forgotten about it.
The two-year rule basically says that if you haven’t worn an item of clothing in the last 2 years and if it doesn’t have any sentimental value whatsoever, it should be tossed in either the throw or donate piles.
2. Fluff Pillows While in the Dryer
Make dryer-safe pillows fluffier with the help of some tennis balls. All you have to do is place the pillow, 2 clean tennis balls, and a fabric softener sheet in the dryer on medium heat.
You’ll have fluffier pillows right after!
3. Make Your Bed
This may sound pretty basic, but you’d be surprised to know a lot of people actually don’t know how to make a bed. Remember, when tucking the ends of the sheets under the bed, it’s good to make sure the folds are tight.
This will help create a more enticing and cozy bed.
4. Clean the Light Switches
When cleaning light switches, spray the cleaner on the cloth and not the switch. For a more thorough cleaning job, you could also opt to get a cotton swab and stick it in the little nooks and crannies.
5. Dust from Top to Bottom
It’s always good to start dusting from the top to the bottom. That way, you’ll work faster and you won’t end up cleaning an area twice.
Try to dust and wipe everything you can in your room.
6. Vacuum Even Under Furniture
One of the things most people forget whenever they use the vacuum are the spaces they miss under their furniture. Don’t be afraid to stick your vacuum under the bed and underneath a rug.
You never know what dust bunnies could be hiding beneath.
7. Clean Your Curtains
Make it a point to check the wash instructions of your curtains before you clean them. If they can be cleaned in a washing machine, put them in with some trusted detergent, on a delicate cycle.

8. Use Tongs to Clean Your Blinds
The person who thought of this hack is a genius. Simply wrap a microfiber cloth around your tongs and secure them with an elastic band.
Congratulations, you've now made your very own blinds cleaner.

9. Remove the Gunk in Your Windows
Tired of seeing the dirt stuck in your window tracks? Put some baking soda and vinegar on top of the grime.
Once it starts to bubble, scrub off the dirt with an old toothbrush, then soak and wipe up the residue with a rag.
10. Declutter Your Bedside Table
Now is the perfect time to rid your bedside table of unnecessary items. Just make sure to leave the essentials: a scented candle, a lamp, a book or two, and your trusty alarm clock.
11. Clean Wood Dresser with Beer
Bring back the luster of wood with a glass of flat beer.
Simply wipe on the beer with a cloth and then grab another cloth to dry it off after. It’s that simple.
12. Organize Your Dresser
It's time to tidy up your dresser and organize your makeup. Personally, I like keeping all my brushes in one container and my lipsticks lined in a row.
It makes the whole process of glamming up easier.

13. Clean Your Mirrors
Rid your mirror of hairspray stains and icky build up with the help of some rubbing alcohol.
Put a few drops on a cotton pad and buff the marks out. Then finish off with a DIY glass cleaner — made of vinegar and water — to clean the rest of the mirror.
14. Have a Storage Bin for Your Kid's Toys
When living with kids, it's inevitable that their toys are going to wind up in areas outside of their room. Reduce the clutter by keeping a storage bin in your bedroom.
This would also be a good time to teach them the discipline of putting things back in their place as opposed to leaving their stuffed animals all over the floor.
15. Make a Rug Deodorizer
|Mix baking soda, cornstarch, and your favorite scent
together, and sprinkle it on your rug. Let it sit overnight and when morning comes, vacuum your rug. This will help lift off the past scents of your rug.
16. Play Music While You Clean
I’ll admit, spring cleaning services are tiring. There’s really no other way to say it.
This is why it helps to keep your mind preoccupied and to have fun in the process. I like playing music and singing as I clean.
It helps make the time pass by much quicker.
17. Empty the Trash Can
Last but not least, empty out the trash can before you finish the day's spring cleaning. It may seem like such a small task, but it really does make a difference when it comes to a thoroughly cleaned room.
