Savory Steamed Asparagus with Lemon Dressing Recipe

The variety of recipes for asparagus seems endless. Any method you use: roasting, frying, or grilling, any way you cook asparagus will give you a tasty and sophisticated side dish that is perfect for any meal. Then again, asparagus is a delicate vegetable that needs to be cooked gently and steaming it is the best method to preserve its texture. This tender and nutritious steamed asparagus dish with a kick of tangy lemon dressing is surprisingly delicious. Ready? Let’s get started.

Savory Steamed Asparagus with Lemon Dressing

Ingredients:

• 1 pound of asparagus stalks
• half a quarter cup of lemon juice
• 3 tbsps of chopped basil
• 1 tsp of salt
• 1 tsp of paprika
• 1/2 tsp of ground pepper
• 3 tbsps of olive oil

Step 1

Bend or snap the dry ends off of the asparagus.

Step 2

Fill a steamer pan set with 1 inch water and bring to a boil.

Step 3

Place the asparagus stalks in the steamer pan set with thick ends first. Steam for 5 to 10 minutes until asparagus stalks are tender.

For the Lemon dressing:

Step 4

Whisk together the following ingredients:

• half a quarter cup of lemon juice
• 3 tbsps of chopped basil
• 1 tsp of salt
• 1 tsp of paprika
• 1/2 tsp of ground pepper

After a few whisk, you can now add 3 tbsps. of olive oil to the mixture.

Step 5

Remove the stalks from the steaming pan set and arrange them in a serving platter. Pour a little bit of the lemon dressing in the middle of your asparagus stalks.
