Herbs play an important role in cooking. You can use it in almost any dish but it is also perishable. We would normally end up with a lot of leftovers and it would be such a waste to get rid of them. That's why if you would want to preserve them longer and find out how to store herbs, this DIY will help you out. You can use them anytime you want no matter what season.

 

What you'll need in freezing herb ice cube:

  • knife
  • herbs
  • olive oil
  • ice tray

Step 1

Chop the herbs to release the flavor and put them on the ice tray. I recommend mixing the herbs in one olive oil tray to have a nice blend of flavors when cooking it.

 

 

Step 2

Pour olive oil and slip it in the freezer.

 

Step 3

After a couple of hours, you're ready for an entire winter by freezing herbs. You can now have it ready anytime you need fresh herbs for your dishes. Enjoy it anytime!

  1. I am surprised at using Olive Oil. I didn’t think it would freeze. Seems I have heard about using water rather than the oil too for preserving the herbs.

    • Water works great too, but freezing them in oil especially helpful if you want to use the herbs to cook. Oil freezes at 37 degrees fahrenheit. source
