I use this healthy smoothie recipe nearly every morning for breakfast. Smoothie recipes are ridiculously quick and easy and, not to mention, nutritious! Drinking healthy smoothies in the morning is an excellent way to ensure you're getting enough fruit in your diet. You can even sneak in a serving of veggies–kale and spinach are both great options that blend easily and don't greatly interfere with the overall taste of the smoothie.
This smoothie recipe is one of my favorites. The combination of sweet, delicate pear blended with refreshing cilantro and mint, and just a slight kick from the freshly ground ginger makes this the perfect smoothie to start off your day! Let's get started.
Healthy Smoothie Recipe | Pear and Herb Smoothie
(makes 2 servings)
Ingredients:
- 2 bananas, preferably sliced and frozen
- 1.5 pears, roughly chopped (any variety works but personally I like d'Anjou)
- 1 c. of kale
- 1/4 c. cilantro
- 1/4 c. mint
- 1 c. almond milk
- A thumb of ginger
- Ice, to thicken the consistency (optional)
Step 1.
Add all ingredients into a high speed blender, placing the heavier items on top (i.e. the fruit and the ice) as to weigh down the greens and such so they get blended smoothly first.
Step 2.
Start blending!
Step 3.
Once that pillowy, cross-shaped dimple occurs in the middle of the smoothie I'd say it's ready to go.
Step 4.
Serve this pretty pear smoothie in a large mason jar or, if you're feeling generous, into two medium size glasses–one for you, one for a friend!
