Hanukkah is here and it's time to celebrate in high (cheeseball) style. Sure, you've got an ugly Christmas sweater, but what about an ugly Hanukkah sweater??

Need a fun look for that upcoming Hanukkah get-together? Attending an ugly holiday sweater party? Look no further! This DIY ugly Hanukkah sweater will make your friends and colleagues rethink the hegemony of the ugly Christmas sweater. What's next? An ugly Easter sweater? Who knows! Think out of the box, and have some (ugly) fun.

The Mini Penny Blog put together this fabulous step-by-step tutorial for the ultimate ugly Hanukkah sweater. The best part? At $20, it won't break the bank. Check it out!

How to Make an Ugly Hanukkah Sweater

Supplies:

  • A sweater. Consider blue or white — traditional Hanukkah colors.
  • Glitter puffy paint or glitter glue. The glittery the better!
  • Silver ribbon. (Not used on this sweater, but ribbons would look great!)
  • Iron-on white letters.

Step 1:

Cut your letters out and carefully lay them out to spell your saying. Mini Penny went with Oy Vey! Hanukkah!, but feel free to pick your own “slogan.”

Step 2:

Iron the letters on. Mini Penny recommends following the instructions on the package; most of them are the same. Use a thin piece of cotton between the iron and the letters, turn inside out to iron again, and allow to cool before removing the backing. The sweater's already looking great, but still needs to be cornified.

Step 3:

Make sure you put something between the layers of sweatshirt, like cardboard or old catalogues. Use your best drawing skills to “make stars, menorahs, dreidels or even challah if you're feeling ultra-artsy, ” Mini Penny says. Let you shirt dry in a safe place until it is completely dry.

Step 4:

You did it! You've got yourself a cornball-licious ugly Hanukkah sweater! Spin a dreidel, light a menorah and be merry!
