DIY Tricks to Bring Down Your Heating Bill
Cold weather isn’t going anywhere, but your heating bill is. Yep, it’s going up up UP!
Getting nervous just thinking of looking at your upcoming heating bill? Instead of just wringing your actions, take action! There are ways to reduce your home’s heating cost without having to wear four layers indoors.
Goodale Pro Hardware’s Melanie Mitchell revealed three DIY tips that are affordable and pretty much anyone can do.

1. Doors
Use a door sweep. (They run around $4 a door). You’re likely getting a draft under your door even when it’s closed.
2. Caulking
Make sure you caulk holes in the walls that lead to the outside. Even tiny ones can be big energy wasters. New foaming caulking expands and is easier to place.
3. Window Treatments
Get window treatments that put plastic around the windows and tape around the edges. If they balloon up in the breeze you know you need weather stripping around the windows.
