Project 2 – How to Make Curtains
You've mastered the no-sew curtain, you've mastered the pillow, (if you're following along in our free home decorating course) which leaves us to our next stop: How to Sew Curtains!
Sewing curtains is one of the easiest things ever. It's just a matter of sewing in a straight line on the correct size. To be quite honest, the most complicated part is figuring out how much fabric to cut for your curtains, which we went over in (this tutorial here). Once you've got your fabric all ready to go, follow along with the video for this easy curtain making tutorial!
For this project you will need
- Curtain Fabric
- Basic Sewing Essentials
- Follow along as we measure the fabric, and hem it to prepare for the sewing process

Part 1 – How to Make Curtains
Gather supplies, and prepare your fabric.
Part 2 – How to Make Curtains
Sew up the sides with a top stitch. This video shows you the best practices for sewing straight, and how to know what color thread to use.
Part 3 – How to Make Curtains
The sides were sewn first, this aids in a clean finished look when it comes to finishing the top and bottom of the curtain. Follow along in this video to finish off your curtain with the rod pocket, for a simple curtain panel that will hang nicely in any home.
