I’m new to DIY. Where should I start?
Head to Beginner Friendly or Absolute Beginner in Browse by Skill. Look for projects with clear step-by-steps, short time estimates, and minimal tools.

Do you have weekend or 1-day builds?
Yes—check Quick Projects → Weekend Warriors (1–2 day builds) and time-based filters like Half Day or Full Day.

Planning & Safety

How do I know if a project matches my skill level? Each guide lists skills/tools required. When in doubt, choose a simpler variant and level up with our technique tutorials.

Do you offer safety guidance?
Absolutely. See Safety Guidelines and tool-specific safety callouts in each tutorial. If a task requires a licensed pro (e.g., certain electrical work), we’ll say so.

How do I budget a project?
Use our Budget filters (Free, Under $10, $10–$25, etc.). Each build includes a materials list to estimate costs.

Tools & Materials

What tools do your tutorials assume I own?
Most beginner projects need a basic kit (measuring tape, drill/driver, handsaw, PPE). Intermediate builds may add sanders, routers, or nailers. Every post lists exactly what you’ll need.

Do you review or recommend tools?
Yes. See Tool Guides and Pro-Grade Gear Reviews. We focus on performance,  safety, and long-term value. We also link to supplies used in each project.

Are links on your site affiliate links?
Some are. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost. We only recommend items we’d use ourselves.

Content & Formats

Do you have videos?
For complex builds we include video walkthroughs alongside the written tutorial so you can follow step-by-step.

Can I download plans or cut lists?
When available, you’ll find PDFs in the Materials/Plans section of each project.

How often do you post new projects?
We add fresh ideas monthly and refresh evergreen guides before peak seasons (holidays, spring yardwork, etc.).

I can’t find a tutorial I need. Will you make one?
Tell us what you’re building via Contact Us. We prioritize requests that help the most readers.

Why did my project take longer/cost more than expected?
Scope creep and material choices are common culprits. Recheck the cut list, measure twice, and use our calculators where provided. Start with a small prototype when possible.

Can I submit my finished project photos?

Do you accept guest posts or collaborations?
